Cindylisa Muñiz

Director of Global Engagement, Trinity School

For thirty-six years, Cindylisa Muñiz has taught Upper School English at Trinity School, where she guides students through the challenges and joys of close reading and persuasive writing. In her classrooms, students learn to linger over words and sentences, ask questions of the text and each other, and cultivate persuasive writing voices.

As Director of the school’s Department of Global Engagement, Ms. Muñiz collaborates with students and faculty on designing experiential travel programs across the country and the world. These journeys invite students to follow their curiosity and critical thinking beyond the classroom and into a complex and wondrous global community that needs more courageous and responsible citizens.

Ms. Muñiz’ personal library reflects the authors who exercise her mind and feed her imagination. William Faulkner, James Baldwin, Zora Neale Hurston, Claire Keegan, Tobias Wolff, Octavia Butler, and Flannery O'Connor keep her thinking about the blessings and burdens of history, the labyrinth of human psychology, the power of parrhesia, and the mystery of God.

She is honored to be part of the Reconciliation League.
